Original, unique contemporary abstract cyanotype bookmark, for the bookish art lover.
Cyanotypes are a historical printing process, made by direct contact with sunlight to produce this beautiful Prussian blue art.
I made this bookmark by painting the paper with cyanotype chemicals and then exposed it directly in the local river using the sunlight and the water to create the magic.
This is non-toxic and completely harmless to the river.
I embellished the dry bookmark with gold ink, inspired by Japanese kintsugi. Broken pottery is repaired with gold to create beauty in imperfection. Finally I added some white ink too.
A beautiful art work you could equally put on the wall - bookmark use isn’t obligatory!
*Size: 20 x 5 cms / 8” x 2”
Bookmark is signed on the back.
Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent the cyanotype from fading. Kept inside a book is best. However should your print fade, it can be revived by storing in the dark for a while.
